Designed to be the affordable solution to your everyday printing scanning and copying needs the new Stylus SX405 from Epson looks impressive on paper but is it any good I the real world? Finding that the cost of its printer ink cartridges is £30 a set it a great start but there the availability of compatible Epson SX405 ink cartridges saves the day. Compatible Epson ink cartridges are made by third party manufacturers whom have no ties to Epson and have much lower overheads and therefore their cartridges cost less. In terms of printing performance the Epson SX405 performs to a very high standard so much so that it goes beyond expectations of a printer in the price range. Being a multifunction printer the SX405 offers more than just printing facilities, it also has a built in A4 scanner which is an excellent faculty to have and works well for scanning all types of documents. The photo copier function combines the functionality of both the scanner and printer to copy documents quickly and conveniently. One feature that is new to Epson MFP’s is the SX405’s ability to print photos directly from a memory card, this is made possible with the built in memory card reader and LCD screen which enables viewing of the pictures before printing. The SX405 has very little to complain about in terms of performance and its value for money is pretty good too.
